My studio is in an old warehouse, built in 1886. There was a large block of wood in the basement. I took it as a memento of what had been. It sat in the corner of my studio for fourteen years. I collect old ledgers. They sit on the shelves in my studio. After looking at the block of wood and the ledgers for many years, I saw that they belonged together.
